The Yokohama Geolandar X-AT is a rugged all-terrain tire designed for drivers of various vehicles, including pickup trucks, full-size SUVs, Jeeps, and dedicated off-road vehicles. It combines the off-road capability and durability of a maximum traction tire with the on-road manners of an all-terrain tire. To enhance its performance, Yokohama utilizes their HD-2 Off-Road Compound, which includes a Triple Polymer Blend. This blend improves the tire's resistance against cuts and chips while ensuring long-lasting wear. The compound is molded into an aggressive, symmetric pattern featuring a Five Pitch Block Variation that helps minimize noise for a quieter ride. The ZigZag grooves disrupt airflow between the tread blocks, further improving sound quality. The Geolandar X-AT also incorporates Combination Grooves, utilizing sipes and narrow grooves within each block. These grooves are designed to enhance traction on wet surfaces, as well as in snowy conditions and on slippery rock surfaces. The tire's angular, offset center blocks are engineered to provide strength and grip in challenging terrains. Additionally, the aggressive shoulder design includes varying length blocks to aid in mud traction and stone ejection. To ensure durability and protection, the Geolandar X-AT features thick, over-the-shoulder sidewall protectors. These protect against punctures and impacts while allowing drivers to customize their vehicle's appearance by choosing between the "Mesa" or "Summit" sidewall design. Yokohama utilizes their Geo-Shield™ Construction in the Geolandar X-AT. This construction includes three polyester body plies that wrap around a strong, hexagonal bead. This forms the tire's casing and creates an elliptical contact patch that offers a balance of off-road traction and long, even wear. Two high-strength steel belts support the tread and are reinforced by a full-width nylon cap, further enhancing the tire's durability.
