Bridgestone BLIZZAK DM-V2

The Blizzak DM-V2 is a winter tire specifically designed for light trucks, SUVs, crossovers, and sport utility vehicles. Its main focus is providing enhanced grip on slush, snow, and ice. Bridgestone, the manufacturer, has developed this tire with features that prioritize ice traction, braking, wet road handling, and resistance to hydroplaning. One of the key technologies used in the Blizzak DM-V2 is Bridgestone's adaptive NanoPro Tech Multicell compound. This compound has a hydrophilic coating and microscopic bite particles, which allow it to remain flexible in freezing conditions. It also helps in removing water from packed snow and ice, while the bite particles improve grip and braking on ice. The tire has a directional tread design with more aggressive block edges than its predecessor, the Blizzak DM-V1. It also has wide lateral and circumferential grooves to channel water, slush, and snow away for better traction. Additionally, 3D zigzag sipes increase the number of snow biting edges. The Blizzak DM-V2 meets the industry's severe snow service requirements and is branded with the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol, indicating its suitability for snowy conditions. It is important to note that the tread depth of the Blizzak DM-V2 incorporates two different compounds. The first 55% of the tread depth features the NanoPro Tech Multicell Compound, while the remaining 45% has a standard winter tire compound. An indicator molded into the tread design signals when the remaining tread reaches the point where it can no longer provide beneficial snow traction. To maximize the performance and handling characteristics of the Blizzak DM-V2, Bridgestone recommends installing these tires in sets of four. This is due to the tire's revolutionary traction capabilities. Lastly, it should be mentioned that winter tires, including the Blizzak DM-V2, are not UTQG (Uniform Tire Quality Grading) rated. Note: The three-peak mountain snowflake symbol (3PMSF) is a symbol used to identify tires that meet the required performance criteria for severe snow conditions. Tires bearing this symbol are suitable for use in snowy areas.
